Looking (And Feeling) Fabulous On Your Wedding Day
Looking and feeling fabulous on your wedding day certainly comes from being confident. Now I know this can be easier said than done sometimes and, at our recent Brides & Beauty event with celebrity make-up artist Jules Cardozo-Marsh, I hope that we really managed to pass on lots of tips and advice to give everyone who attended a big hit of self belief. If you didn’t manage to make it along, I’m going to share some of Jules’ brilliant advice here on the blog today so come your wedding day, you are feeling (and looking) wonderful.
One of the things I love most about my job is helping brides choose a dress that makes them come alive. The transformations that take place at Coco & Kate are just joyous. So many brides-to-be arrive at their first wedding dress appointment feeling unsure and edgy and being able to set them at their ease and help them select a gorgeously flattering gown is beyond special. By offering private appointments, I get to lavish lots of care and attention on everyone and make the whole wedding dress shopping experience something special.
And that aim, to make everyone feel special, is why I was so excited to host our event with Jules because this is absolutely what she does. She’s so experienced and knowledgeable that you know from the outset you’re in good hands. Trusting someone with your wedding day look is a big deal – I know Jules and I are both so privileged to do what we do – so being able to feel so relaxed from the get-go is just great.
Anyway, I’ll get on and share some of the tips that I picked up from Jules at our event. These are all perfect for getting ready for the upcoming Christmas party season as well as being essential wedding day preparation so read on and get gorgeous…
“Whatever you put on your face, it can be the most expensive foundation in the world but if your skin isn't hydrated and looking it's best the foundation will not sit well. You need a great canvas first so look at your daily skincare routine, are you using the right products and are you investing wisely and I don't just mean money! Drinking plenty of water is key to help flush out toxins from the body, start the day off with a nice cup of warm water with a slice of lemon.”
If you can afford to treat yourself, book in for a course of monthly facials, these not only help address any skincare concerns you may have but are also good for relaxing the mind, get's the blood plumping and helps increase cell renewal.
Do not neglect your eyebrows, book in with a brow specialist who will help tame those brows in preparation for your wedding. Remember brows structure and frame the face. I always apply a few false lashes to the outer corners of the upper lashes, they lift the eye area (great for those with small eyes) and give the impression of thick sexy sooty lashes.”
Jules also has all the latest gossip on new products that will be hitting our favourite beauty stores so if you’re looking for a little Christmas list inspiration, these might be a few products to check out…
“Whether you’re getting married or just want to start a new routine, it’s never too late to start looking after your skin so I love using REN Rosa Centifolia Hot Cloth Cleanser, it’s gentle enough to use twice a day and by massaging into your skin it removes deep down dirt and impurities. I like to apply a toner to make sure all my cleanser has been removed. You can’t fail to love Cosmetics à La Carte Rose Moisturising Skin Rinse. Not only is the smell divine, but it’s oil free and balances the driest of skins, and so it’s great for mature skin.”
“To find your perfect moisturiser, ask for a sample to try at home over a couple of days. There are a couple of brands that have a higher success rate. I am particularly fond of Sarah Chapman Dynamic Defence Concentrate SPF15 containing vitamin A, C, antioxidants and omega-rich oils. Another brand worth trying is Rodial, they have products suitable for all skin types and they are great for a pre-wedding treat or luxurious booster. The Super Acids x-treme acid rush peel promises to resurface and refine your skin leaving it brighter and smoother, a perfect canvas for your make up.”
“If you’re getting married, avoid wearing lipgloss until after the ceremony as if you are wearing a veil, a gust of wind will have it sticking to your face! Tom Ford has an amazing range of lipstick colours and the texture is wonderful. Perfect for kissing… And finally, for a good all-round beauty product, try Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream, a magical cream with hundreds of uses!”
I’d like to say a huge thank-you to Jules for all of her words of wisdom. If you’d like to find out more about her bridal make-up services, then just visit her website – www.julescardozomarsh.com - and you’ll be looking (and feeling) picture perfect in no time.
