Winter Wedding Inspiration – Cool Greys & Crisp Whites
Hello again and welcome to a winter wedding inspiration feature that should certainly make you smile, whatever the weather is doing outside right now. Like the very best Christmas presents, this winter wedding theme is a little bit unexpected because today, we’re indulging in a little bit of contemporary chic with an ice and white and cool grey palette that certain turns up the heat in the wedding style stakes!
So, why have I chosen this colour scheme for a winter wedding? Well, just a look at the images above should show you that white and grey is simply all kinds of beautiful. With hints of snow and frost, it’s just so incredibly seasonal and when you add in a little winter foliage, it’s simply brilliant. As a colour scheme, it’s also fantastically flexible. It can work in rustic or industrial settings, marquees, hotels and it’s fabulous in a blank-canvas venue where you can design yourself a real winter-luxe wedding to remember.
As for gowns, well, you have a huge choice and I know I might be biased but the wedding gowns that we stock at Coco & Kate that feature boho, glamorous and ethereal styling cues would really suit this look. Layers and layers of tulle, laces, embellishments and beautiful details aplenty stop the white and grey look becoming too stark and make it deliciously feminine. Obviously, bridesmaids in pale grey gowns are the perfect accompaniment and as you’ll be able to wear grey heels again and again after your wedding, you can absolutely indulge in a gorgeous designer pair…
Another tip to stop your greys looking a little lifeless is to bring in various shades and textures. I love the two wedding cakes in the image above as they do this so marvelously. The petals and motifs on the cake on the top add loads of visual interest and break up the grey icing of those top tiers so cleverly whilst the delicate ruffles and ombre tones of the bottom cake are just so elegant. The same goes for your flowers as well – bring in blooms, leaves, berries and all kinds of frosted foliage for a soft, romantic look.
Well, I’m swooning at those styling details above. The use of the touches of green foliage against the grey and white is just perfect and really warms everything up whilst not detracting at all from those show-stopping colours. As you can see, you can go for high style with luxurious grey linens and fine white crockery or use greys and white with a more rustic look – the grey linen napkin and ribbon-tied cutlery looks ace on the white place mat and wooden table. I just had to include that sparkling stationery too – I’m totally crushing on the lanterns and snowflakes!
I just wanted to include the images above not only because they’re super romantic but also to illustrate all of my points again! White and grey can be classic, boho or glam, you can add more interest and softness with various textures and seasonal accessories make everything fabulous. Scarfs, knits, gloves and sparkles are all absolutely appropriate for a winter wedding and you’ll look like a real winter wonder!
Whatever theme you’ve chosen for your winter wedding, you’ll find fabulous gowns and accessories to suit your style here at Coco & Kate.
