Flyaway Brides – Destination Wedding Inspiration
It might be something to do with the time of year but I feel in the mood to travel. And so do lots of the brides who visit Coco & Kate to choose their wedding dress because destination weddings and elopements seem to be really popular right now. Luckily for all you flyaway brides out there, we’ve got so many beautiful wedding gowns in the boutique right now that are absolutely perfect for all kinds of destination weddings from beach celebrations to European nuptials so let’s allow ourselves to drift away.
Lots of the brides that we see at Coco & Kate who are jetting off to warmer climes for beach weddings seem to be drawn to our amazing selection of Anna Campbell gowns. Anna is a fantastic Australian designer who creates the some of the most stunning wedding dresses I’ve ever seen.
An Anna Campbell wedding dress manages to mix timeless elegance with an almost sexy sophistication and oh those embellishments, to die for! All handmade in Australia, these gorgeous silk wrap wedding dresses could have been designed for tropical beaches and warm weather weddings.
Another of our designers that’s making a big impression with brides, especially those heading into the glorious and romantic countryside of Italy and France for their weddings is Tatyana Merenyuk. These are romantic, ethereal wedding dresses with a little hint of boho that’s perfect for European destination weddings. Imagine walking through a vineyard or olive grove in one of these delightfully feminine gowns.
So, if you’re heading overseas for your wedding, what do you need to keep in mind? Well, firstly, consider whether a destination wedding planner might be a good investment for you. Having someone ‘on the ground’ that knows the area and is on top of all the local rules and regulations can be an absolute lifesaver. They’ll save you loads of time and stress for sure!
If you’re flying to your destination then speak to your airline as some have closets in the cabins where you might be able to hang your dress. Failing that, try to pack your dress in your cabin baggage, even if that means having to pay extra to check another bag into the hold. If you’re flight’s not busy, a sympathetic flight attendant might let you take the dress out of the case so you can lay it over a seat (just make sure it’s in garment bag to keep it clean!)
However you’re travelling, you’ll need to pack your dress very carefully to avoid creasing it and there are some great guidelines here as well as information on how to prepare your wedding dress when you arrive at your hotel or venue.
Quite a few of our destination brides are coming home to another party and, as someone who LOVES celebrations of all varieties, I think a second party AND another chance to wear your wedding dress is a great idea!
It’s worth keeping in mind however that your dress might need a little love and attention before this party so do ask us if you need recommendations for a specialist wedding dress cleaner and check with them how long it will take for them to clean your dress so you know you’ll be ready for your party.
Another idea to make this celebration seem all the more special is to wear some different accessories, maybe larger jewellery or a statement necklace. Of course, you might even like to have a second wedding dress entirely and of course, we’d be very happy to help you!
If you’d like to view and try on our selection of Anna Campbell and Tatyana Merenyuk wedding dresses not to mention any of the other designers we’re proud to stock at Coco & Kate, just get in touch to make an appointment and it will be our pleasure to welcome you soon.
Love,
Sophie x
