Gowns To Love – Our Favourites From New York Bridal Fashion Week
There’s so much to love at this time of year – evenings by the fire, long walks through drifts of leaves and, if you’re a fan of all things bridal there’s New York Bridal Fashion week to look forward to. All our favourite designers congregate in the Big Apple with their latest collections and oh my goodness, the wedding dresses that made their way down the catwalks were simply stunning. Today, I’m going to share a few of my favourite gowns from the new collections with you… Firstly, I admit to loving Hayley Paige’s designs and we’re thrilled to stock her gowns here at Coco & Kate. The collection on show in New York was beautiful. Think embellished bodices, exquisite botanical embroidery and gowns in the palest pastel tones. These are definitely gowns for the modern, stylish bride who wants to mix femininity with a fresh take on the wedding dress. Those plunging necklines and barely there fabrics are just heavenly.
Lazaro is another favourite and as you can see from the image above, this new collection shared some elements with some of the Hayley Paige designs – large and light skirts, deep V-necks and pretty embroidery. The Lazaro collection was also incredibly romantic with soft colours, lace applique and those signature tulle skirts. Classic designs with an ultra-modern twist.
No round-up of New York Bridal Fashion week would be complete with mentions of Claire Pettibone and Jenny Packham, two of the most well known bridal designers in the world.
Claire Pettibone took us back to the Gilded Age with a collection that is, as Pettibone herself says, full of “the imagination and artistry of a bygone era, alluding to a world where beauty reigns.” Heirloom fabrics, golden embellishments and pearl detailing were all in evidence and you couldn’t have wished for a more feminine collection.
Designer to the Duchess of Cambridge, Jenny Packham’s new collection was another highlight. It was floral and romantic with the most amazing beadwork on these immaculately designed gowns. The fabrics are just divine and those skirts – swoon!
I also adore Monique Lhuillier’s designs and there was so much to love in this new collection in every sense of the word. Metres of stunning fabrics went into every gown and the look was just so elegant and glamorous. There were delicate elements of colour in the gowns and the detailing was truly fantastic.
Eye-catching glamour was definitely a theme of the week with coloured motifs and sparkling fabrics in evidence in a number of collections. If you want a gown that’s something different and absolutely unforgettable then go bold! On the softer side, dreamy pastels and soft textured elements were also super popular and this is another fabulous way to wear a wedding dress that might be slightly different whilst still feeling brilliantly bridal!
We’ll be welcoming new gowns from new collections to Coco & Kate over the coming months and I’ll be sharing details here on the blog and also on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook so make sure you’re following us for the latest news. If you want to make sure you’re among the first to try on the new designs as they arrive, do get in touch to make an appointment.
Love,
Sophie x
