Back To (Wedding Planning) School
September is always the start of the new school year and however old we get, we can’t forget that ‘back to school’ feeling. No more lovely long summer days, no more late weekday nights and lazy mornings and a lot more work! It’s certainly a relief not to have to do that anymore! But, inspired by the time of year, I’ve put together a little ‘Back To (Wedding Planning) School’ guide to reinvigorate your wedmin and make sure you’re at the top of the class by half term…
Make New Friends
Meeting new suppliers and keeping up to date with the latest ideas and trends in the wedding world is really easy to do at this time of year because it’s wedding fair season! Whether you choose to go to one of the big national event like The National Wedding Show, an alternative show like Chosen or a local fair, you’ll certainly pick up at least one new thing from each and come away knowing a little more. The internet is brilliant but there’s no substitute for meeting, greeting and seeing suppliers and their work.
There are some fab blog features you might like to have a look at before you go to a fair that are packed with advice on how to get the most out of the event such as this one on Coco Wedding Venues and this piece from Brides Up North
Stock Up On Stationery
I always felt that stocking up on new stationery was the very best bit about going back to school and frankly, I still love buying new notebooks and pretty papers now I’m a grown-up. If your wedding planning has stalled a bit or if you think you’ve become a bit disorganised, why not invest in a few new things to keep you on track? Notebooks and weekly planners like these beauties from Quill London are perfect and don’t forget to start filling in your 2016 diary now so you’re super organised before the New Year.
Check Out The Reading List
Longer autumn evenings quite often mean a bit more time snuggled on the sofa so it might be time to refresh your wedding reading list. Wedding blogs are the perfect indulgence for a cosy evening and, if you always head straight to the same ones, why not take a look at the Wedding Magazine Blog Awards shortlists for some inspiration? Also, don’t forget the best blogs from around the world such as Magnolia Rouge, Wedding Chicks, Green Wedding Shoes and the incomparable Style Me Pretty.
Shop For New Uniform
Well, I don’t mean uniform exactly but wedding boutiques, including Coco & Kate, are full of new gowns from new designers at this time of year so it’s really a wonderful time to come and see us. You’ll be ahead of the January rush and you’ll also be among the first to see the stunning gowns from Anna Campbell that we’re thrilled to stock. In fact, we’re only the second UK stockist for this super talented designer and I can’t wait to show you these seriously gorgeous gowns.
Do Your Homework
There’s no doubting the fact that planning a wedding is a lot of work. To make sure it’s as enjoyable as possible (and to cut back on those stress levels), get prepped and get organised. There are some great checklists, planning tools and spreadsheets online (we adore the advice section on the Coco Wedding Venues blog) so do a little bit of homework to guarantee yourself an A* wedding!
Love,
Sophie x
